HOW TO WRITE BUSINESS LETTER DATE FORMAT.
All business letters should
have the correct date, typed under the letterhead. The date records when the
letters was written, and may serve as an important reference.
Date line appears two spaces
below the heading. In a block or semi block form it is written on the right
hand side. In a full block form it is written on the left hand side.

Ways of
writing dates:
There are
two methods of writing dates in a business letter. They are namely (1) American method/Cardinal method and second method is (2) British method/Ordinal method.
(1)American Method/Cardinal Method:
The American Method follows the Chronological order of name of the month, date and year.
e.g., November 1, 2018.
(2) British Method/Ordinal Method:
The British method follows the chronological order of Date, name of month and year.
The American Method follows the Chronological order of name of the month, date and year.
e.g., November 1, 2018.
The British method follows the chronological order of Date, name of month and year.
e.g., 1st November 2018.
Wrong way of writing date in figures:
One must
avoid this practice of writing dates in figures. As we know in the American
method the chronological order is name of the month, date and year. So if we
write date in figures there are chances of
misunderstanding.
e.g.,8/9/2018.
